The book I am talking about is Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. This book is about Ender Wiggins, a young boy, who is put in Battle School because he shows great potential of being a future military leader. He has to go through simulations to prepare for real life combat. I can make a connection with the world because some parents send their kids off to military school, usually to improve their behavior and manners. Another connection I made is a text to text connection with the movie Over the Top. In the movie, the main character's son was in military school. I also made a text to self connection when Peter(his brother) was annoying Ender by making fun of him. I can relate because my siblings sometimes annoy me a lot. One prediction that I have is that Ender will become a great military leader in the future. One thing that I am questioning is why are they putting young people through this kind of training so young in life? Can't they wait until they are older and wiser, and more capable of making life changing decisions?

  1. Great Blog, I agree that the kids shouldnt be put in the simulations until they are older!

  2. One reason they may be putting the kids through this at such a young age is so they don't question it, like it is their normal way of life. It is kind of like the kids in parts of Africa that would be abducted and forced to fight in the military or militia, sometimes even against their own villages and families.

  3. I really like the connection you made with the book and the movie. even though I am not into these stories I would definitely make someone else who is interested in it want to read.

  5. Like what they do in the movie 300? I agree! That seems intense. I'd think it would be better to wait until they were a little older. Cool though!

  6. i know that it would be a great opportunity, because being a leader pays a good penny or two, if you know what i'm saying. but i do agree with you. he shouldn't be put into a camp until he is much older.
