2nd post

In the book Ender's Game, they also call him Andrew. I don't know if Ender is just a nickname for Andrew, but only his family calls him Andrew and some of his teachers, but other people call him Ender. Now, Ender is sent off to Battle School and is only 6 years old. In his society, the government tries to prevent people from having more than 2 children, and Ender is the 3rd child in his family. So Ender is treated differently than other kids because he is a 3rd child. Ender's siblings, Peter and Valentine, were ideal choices for Battle School placement, but they had flaws. So, the government wanted his parents to have a 3rd child so that he could have both of the good traits his siblings had, so he could be the perfect choice for the Battle School training. After reading this, I wonder, even though the government wants people to only have 2 children, they would avoid their own rules to allow people to have the "perfect" child.

  1. This book sounds very interesting with the Battle School and the rule about two children, but the title makes it sound a little like the Hunger Games, which I am just tired of.

  2. That is a great question, if you could have the perfect child even though you broke the rules, so what, you have a perfect child, and isn't that what they are really looking for?
