I believe that Veronica Roth wrote this series because she wants to show that being different is a good thing. In the Divergent series, there are multiple factions that are based on certain qualities, and at age 16, everyone is required to choose a faction they want to stay in for the rest of their lives. Abnegation is for selfless traits, Candor is for truth, Amity is for peace, Dauntless is for bravery, and Erudite is for knowledge and curiosity. Divergent people are people that can fit into more than one faction and the government considers them to be dangerous.
I think that Veronica Roth wants us to know that being different is good, if everyone believes in the same things and is exactly the same, there may not be new ideas or anyone to disagree with decisions the government may believe is good, but is actually very wrong. If everyone was the same, our society would get nowhere and ideas would all be the same. How do you think the world would be like if everyone had the same exact ideas and beliefs?

Insurgent #2
In Insurgent, Tobias and Tris have been found by the Erudite in the Amity compound and were forced to leave. They got onto a train to escape, and they found that it was filled with many factionless people. They were taken into a safehouse with any other factionless people and Abnegation members. Tobias and Tris then went to Candor and are now attempting to find out what is happening in the war.

What impact does setting have on the plot in Insurgent?
In the book Insurgent, the characters Tobias and Tris are on a train. The train is leading to the Amity compound because a war has just started between the factions. This setting of the Amity compound and train shows how unsafe the society has become, and they have to resort to travelling to the faction of peace to be safe. They have lost many of their friends in the war, and Tris's family is divided. I believe that Tris and Tobias will fight in the war. I also think that the government will take over most of the factions to force them to kill all divergents. I also think that the government will control all factionless people and become their soldiers. Do you think the factions will rebel or fight with the government?
Fahrenheit 451 post
In the book Fahrenheit 451, the main characters are Guy Montag, Clarisse, Mildred, and Captain Beatty. The main conflict is that Guy is a fireman, and their job is to burn all the books that are in the society, Clarisse has knocked some sense into Guy, and he is now questioning whether to burn or save the books. Guy reacts to this by taking some books from work and choosing to read them. I believe that Mildred is not reliable, and will tell Beatty about the books. I also predict that Beatty will not give Guy any mercy, and will fire him or punish him. Can Mildred be trusted?

Reflective blog post
Link to my best blog post:
I believe that this is my best blog post because I like the question I asked about why kids are being put in that kind of school at such a young age. I think that this question is the main question throughout the entire story as by the end of the book, Ender is only about 14 years old, and he is already the commander of the earth's army. I also had a few very good connections. I liked the movie Over the Top, and I was glad when I saw a connection to the movie from Ender's Game. I also had a good personal connection when I connected Peter to my siblings.
Next trimester, I hope to actually stay with 2 blogs a week. This tri, I fell behind on reading, and it was hard to catch up to the number of posts we were supposed to have. I also hope to keep my reading constant, so I can keep blogging every week. I want to make sure that I don't have to catch up on blog posts and reading so that I don't have to catch it all up in one day like I unfortunately had to this tri.

#14 The last and most epic blog post in the history of the world!!!
Ender has passed the final examination by miraculousy winnig even though the odds were clearly against him. War is starting on earth though, and every country wants Ender to side with them as he is the best military leader that has ever lived. Ender has to choose whether to side with anyone, or to just leave and be part of a new colony that is going to be established. I don't think that Ender will side with anyone and I think that he will leave because he will want to be away from any war and be by himself and live in peace.
13th post of pure genius
Ender now has to be put through the final examination. It is a simulation that Ender is outnumbered in one-thousand to one. Ender has about 88 ships against 5,000 to 10,000 ships. This is to see if Ender is truly the right person they are looking for. Ender figures out that if he succeeds, then he will go on to another school and go through more gruesome training. He also figures out that if he loses, he will be sent back home because he is not who they are looking for. A question I have is that will Ender choose to win the final battle, or will he choose to lose the battle?
The 12th post out of 14 wonderful posts
Ender is being pushed to his limits now. His teacher makes him do at least two simulations a day, which can last for hours at a time. Ender is tired and is starting to have disturbing dreams about the simulations and the people he used to fight with on earth and in Battle School. He can barely sleep and is almost ready to give up Command School. Ender wants to start losing battles to show them that he is not the person that they are looking for to command the fleet. I predict that Ender will try to lose battles, but somehow, it will be the right thing to do, and he will be praised for his mistake....which could actually be what they had been hoping for for some reason.
Awesome post #11
Ender has now been transferred out of Battle School and into Command School where he will be taught how to command big groups of soldiers and bigger fleets of ships. He now has to do these simulated battles which place him in real life situations in battle and has to control a big group of ships. Ender is working with his old friends from Battle School in these simulations. He is the main commander and tells them what to do. I predict that Ender will be able to pass all of these simulations easily.
THE 10th post
Ender has rose above the other students and has the best stats in the Battle Room. The "principle" of the school, Colonel Graff, has given Ender his own army to command called the Dragon Army. He is given lauchies and inexperienced soldiers to work with. Ender then turns this unlikely group of people into an unstoppable army of lethal soldiers. Ender has never been beaten in the Battle Room, even when they have put him up against two armies at once. I predict that Ender will be the government's first choice to be the commander of the International Fleet, their version of the military.
Possibly the best post (#9)
Ender has been traded to the Rat army, and the commander is nicer than Bonzo, but he is not as smart or good as commander as Bonzo was. Ender doesn't really like him either. Ender has started having secret training with friends of his old army so that they can become better soldiers. Ender also met another friend in the Rat Army. His name is Dink Meeker, and he is one of the only students who truly understand what they are doing to the students at Battle School. He believes that the teachers are isolating their best students so that they would do their best work. A text to world connection is that some commanders in the military aren't as good as others. A text to self connection is that I have had teachers that I don't like as much as some other teachers. A text to text connection is with the movie Goal. The main character has a good future in soccer and practices for hours on his own to improve his skills.
8th post....one of the best ever
Ender has had enough of Bonzo and disobeyed orders. He fired at the enemy team and caused the Salamander army to end with a draw instead of a loss. Bonzo was furious at Ender and used this reason to trade him to a different army. Ender knew that he would be transferred eventually. I think that Ender will be traded to a better commander and will be more succesfull with the new army he is going to. I think Ender will get revenge on Bonzo in the Battle Room and then he will really hate Ender.
The 7th amazing post
Ender, who is still 6, has been transferred from his launchy group. The launchies are the new, young kids in the Battle School. He has been transferred to the Salamander army. Ender finds a new enemy, Bonzo, who despises Ender. Now, they have started to have simulated battles. In these battles, the "armies" wear flash suits, which freeze once you get shot. Even though Ender doesn't like Bonzo, Bonzo is still his commander, so Ender has to follow every order that he gives. So Bonzo ordered Ender to stay out of their way, so Ender has to watch the battle from far away. He doesn't like the way that Bonzo is leading them, and Ender knows he can do it better than Bonzo. A text to world connection is that in the military, even if you don't agree with an order, you still have to follow it. A text to self connection is that when my parents tell me to do something I don't like, I still have to do it anyway. A text to text connection is from the book, I Pledge Alleigence, the main character is a soldier, and he has to follow commands from people with higher authority.

The 2nd best post ever!! (#6)
I predict that later in the book, Ender will make a lot of friends because he can beat the older kids in fighting, and the games. I think that he will be the smartest kid in the school and that all the teachers will begin to like him, but also that would mean some kid would hate him and give him trouble because all the teachers would like him, and he has awesome skills!! I personally believe that there is a lot of pressure on Ender now because he is known for being tough and has to continue to be or his reputation would be ruined. I would not want to be in that situation.
My 5th amazing post
Now in the book, Ender is starting to regret coming to Battle School. He misses his family, and is lonely, because he is younger than the other people there. Then, one day Ender was watching the "games" that the older kids get to play. The games are like simulations and give the player real life situations. You have to try to survive as long as you can. Ender is then challenged by an older kid who is confident he can beat Ender. After hours of observing the games, Ender knows what the main goal of the game is. He is at first unfamiliar with the controls, but eventually beats him 2 out of 3 rounds. Now, Ender is confident that he belongs in Battle School. He even starts to make some friends in the process. A text to world is that there are games that are similar to the one that Ender was playing. A text to self connection is that sometimes I play video games too. A text to text connection is to Fat Boy Chronicles. In the book the main character was very good at video games.

4th Epic Post
I just found out that Ender is 6 YEARS OLD!!!!! He is strong enough though to beat up older kids and is tough enough to not cry when his brother makes fun of him for being a Third, or third child. He is a tough little cookie. I wish I could be like Ender because he can basically outsmart older people, that would be awesome! I think that Ender will be a very successful general in the future. I think he will probably be the best student at the Battle School.
3rd Post
In Ender's Game, Ender arrived to Battle School. He got into some trouble with some kids and got in a fight. The other boy made a mistake by bothering Ender, and during the fight, Ender broke the other boy's arm. Now Ender is known for being "vicious" and dangerous. He is having trouble finding friends and met with an older kid who he doesn't really like. A text to self connection is that sometimes when it is the first day of school, it can be hard to find people to hang out with. A text to world connection is that some kids struggle to find new friends when they move to a new school. A text to text connection could be Fat Boy Chronicles. In the book, Jimmy moves to a new city away from his friends, he is bullied and has a hard time. I predict that Ender will become a popular kid because he will do very well in Battle School.

2nd post
In the book Ender's Game, they also call him Andrew. I don't know if Ender is just a nickname for Andrew, but only his family calls him Andrew and some of his teachers, but other people call him Ender. Now, Ender is sent off to Battle School and is only 6 years old. In his society, the government tries to prevent people from having more than 2 children, and Ender is the 3rd child in his family. So Ender is treated differently than other kids because he is a 3rd child. Ender's siblings, Peter and Valentine, were ideal choices for Battle School placement, but they had flaws. So, the government wanted his parents to have a 3rd child so that he could have both of the good traits his siblings had, so he could be the perfect choice for the Battle School training. After reading this, I wonder, even though the government wants people to only have 2 children, they would avoid their own rules to allow people to have the "perfect" child.

1st Post
The book I am talking about is Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. This book is about Ender Wiggins, a young boy, who is put in Battle School because he shows great potential of being a future military leader. He has to go through simulations to prepare for real life combat. I can make a connection with the world because some parents send their kids off to military school, usually to improve their behavior and manners. Another connection I made is a text to text connection with the movie Over the Top. In the movie, the main character's son was in military school. I also made a text to self connection when Peter(his brother) was annoying Ender by making fun of him. I can relate because my siblings sometimes annoy me a lot. One prediction that I have is that Ender will become a great military leader in the future. One thing that I am questioning is why are they putting young people through this kind of training so young in life? Can't they wait until they are older and wiser, and more capable of making life changing decisions?
